About Us
Club Corvette of Connecticut was established in January 1993 by nine Corvette enthusiasts. Since those early days, the club has grown into one of the largest Corvette clubs in the Northeast US with over 300 members.
Club members include owners who drive their Corvettes daily, participate in judged shows, own NCRS cars, enjoy a day demonstrating their car’s performance on the drag strip or testing their own skills on road course tracks, such as Lime Rock Park and Watkins Glen. It is not required to own a Corvette to be a member of our club – just be an enthusiast and share in the desire to preserve the Corvette’s status as America’s Sports Car.
The generosity of our sponsors, the Dave McDermott Auto Group of East Haven CT, Moroso Performance Products of Guilford CT, Town Fair Tire, headquartered in East Haven CT, Callaway Cars of Old Lyme CT and Temecula CA, DaSilva’s Auto Body of Naugatuck CT, and Corvette Center of Newington CT, allows our club to host our annual Corvette Car Show & Swap Meet. This Show is the club’s single largest event in which all members are encouraged to participate. Club Corvette of Connecticut has a “give back to the community philosophy” and the partial proceeds from the Corvette Car Show & Swap Meet, as well as the Show’s Program, are donated to various Connecticut charities. Monies from our Shows have been donated to the Connecticut Hospice as well as several other organizations, such as the Ronald McDonald House, the Branford Community Dining Room, Boys and Girls Village of Milford, Make-A-Wish Foundation of CT, Ability Beyond Disability, Protectors of Animals, and others.
The members of Club Corvette of Connecticut enjoy driving their Vettes for a wide range of activities and events. Among the favorites are single-day, two, three, and four-day weekend trips throughout the New England, New York, Pennsylvania region. Just to name a few, our cruises have taken us to the Yankee Candle Factory and quaint Stockbridge in Massachusetts, West Point and Rhinebeck in New York, New Hampshire in the fall, Corvettes at Carlisle in Pennsylvania and to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky. Some members have participated in all four of the National Corvette Caravans to the NCM/GM Assembly Plant. During the “cruising season”, Club Corvette of Connecticut hosts weekly Cruise Nights: Wednesdays at Heav’nly Donuts in Derby and Thursdays at Allegra’s Cafe (formally Lakeview Grille) in Branford.
Cruising in our Corvettes for personal pleasure is only part of what defines Club Corvette of Connecticut. Our members take great pride in using their Corvettes for the benefit of others. We use our “Vettes for Vets” to chauffeur Veterans to the Memorial Day Ceremonies in East Haven and to support the 4th of July Parade in Madison. In December, our members support the Connecticut State Police by organizing and participating in a “Korvettes for Kids Toy Run”. Members fill their Corvettes with toys and, with police escort, Santa will lead a caravan of fifty “Vettes” for delivery of the goodies to Police Headquarters.
Club Corvette of Connecticut publishes a monthly newsletter, the “Vette Gazette”, which features highlights of club activities, pertinent Corvette information, a calendar of upcoming events throughout Connecticut and neighboring states, and a classified section.
Club meetings are held at the Parthenon Diner in Branford on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Club Corvette of Connecticut Inc. invites you to join us and share in the exciting activities and camaraderie centered around America’s Sports Car.
